- Address File for the 1541 Disk Drive
- PowerPlay Magazine, September 1985
- Page 64
-
- When you purchase a new 1541
-
- disk drive, you also receive a demo
-
- disk that contains an example of how
-
- to use random files. ADDRESS FILE
-
- adds a collection of modifications to
-
- the original program to help increase
-
- the usability of the program.
-
- This modified version allows you to
-
- enter a name of interest and have the
-
- computer search for that particular
-
- name. It is not necessary to input a
-
- complete name; a string of any length
-
- can be used. For example if 'SM' is
-
- entered as the name to search for,
-
- all names that begin with 'SM' will
-
- be shown. That includes names like
-
- 'SMITH', 'SMITTY', and 'SMOTTA'. The
-
- file number(s) that are shown can
-
- then be used to find the name and
-
- address information desired.
-
- To view the directory, the program
-
- enters a null string. As the
-
- directory is scrolling by, you can
-
- slow it by pressing the CTRL key.
-
- When entering data into the master
-
- file, be sure to enter last name/first
-
- name, without any spaces or commas
-
- between names.
-
- These few simple alterations make
-
- the original program much easier to
-
- use.
-
-
- Please Note:
- You should use this program on a
- disk by itself. The program needs
- all the free space it can get on the
- disk.
